With the establishment of Menpa training in 1971 and Drungtsho training in 1978, followed by its relocation to the present premises and subsequent evolution as a founding member of the Royal University of Bhutan in 2003 and a constituent faculty of KGUMSB since 2013, the Faculty has remained steadfast in its mandate to preserve, promote and advance Bhutanese Traditional Medicine.

The A+ accreditation reflects the continuous dedication, hard work and collective commitment of successive Drungtshos, Directors, Deans, faculty members, administrative and support staff, trainees and alumni towards strengthening Traditional Medicine education and services in the country. In particular, the FoTM has witnessed significant institutional development under the leadership of Dean Drungtsho Sangay Wangdi since 2019, through sustained efforts to strengthen academic programmes, infrastructure, institutional systems, quality assurance, research, collaboration and the overall learning environment. His hands-on leadership, perseverance and personal sacrifices, together with the dedicated efforts of the Faculty team, have contributed significantly to the Faculty’s progression from Grade “B” in its first accreditation 2017, to Grade “A” in 2021, and now to the highest grade of “A+”. This achievement stands as a testament to the Faculty’s unwavering pursuit of quality Traditional Medicine education and its continued contribution to strengthening Traditional Medicine services for the people of Bhutan.

The Faculty gratefully acknowledges the continued guidance and support of KGUMSB, collaboration of constituent and affiliated faculties of KGUMSB, relevant government agencies, professional and academic institutions, clinical partners, development partners and other stakeholders, whose collective contributions have been instrumental in this journey. The A+ accreditation is not only a recognition of past achievements, but also a renewed responsibility to uphold higher standards of education, research, clinical practice, preservation of traditional knowledge, innovation and service. With this milestone, the Faculty remains committed to carrying forward the legacy entrusted and to further strengthening Traditional Medicine education and services in the service of the nation.

A+ today, greater responsibility tomorrow.

“གསོ་བ་རིག་པའི་བསྟན་པ་རྒྱས་འགྱུར་ཅིག”

The Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, has achieved the highest accreditation grade of “A+” in its third round of accreditation conducted by the HEQC, BQPCA with the result formally awarded on 11th September 2026.

[3

post-9575","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news-and-announcements
